João (Norival Rizzo) is a retired man who’s frustrated with life and constantly complaining about work. Addicted to playing the lottery, he is sinking into depression, unable to see any hope. Until, after a hallucination episode, he starts getting visits from the singer Sidney Magal. Shocked by these recurring supernatural encounters, and because of Magal’s humor, João soon learns how to always see the bright side of life.
A retired workaholic and lottery addict, João was raised on a strict work ethic that condemned pleasure. A hypochondriac, he survives on a modest pension and worries constantly about his children: Sergio, a debt-ridden workaholic, and Sandra, who lost her fiancé. His wife, Mary, dreams of renovating their home, and his only escape is visiting his friend Alberico’s auto shop. After a kind of hallucination episode, João starts getting supernatural visits from Sidney Magal who, with charm and humor, proves that embracing the present is the solution to his problems. With his son’s job and his mechanic friends’ musical talents, João finds a way to solve both his family’s financial and emotional struggles.
